Barnet & Southgate College Plans

Genesis Housing Association Logo

There has been an approach by Barnet & Southgate College to see whether they can become part of the regeneration of Grahame Park. Their current building on Grahame Park Way is no longer suitable and they are looking for new premises.

The current consideration is whether building A8 (see image below) would be suitable. The building currently has planning permission for a public library and retail units on the ground floor, with residential flats above.

Any revision made to the use of the building will not result in any change to its size. The college has proposed that it will retain the public library and retail units, however the upper floors would be changed from residential to meet the college’s needs.

Before this proposal can be agreed, it will need to be presented to Barnet Council’s Cabinet Resources Committee. This is scheduled for 17th July 2012. If the proposals do go ahead, a new planning permission will have to be applied for and we will arrange for the college, Barnet Council and ourselves to present the proposals to residents.

Residents who will be affected by this change should have received a letter outlining the new proposal. You can also download a copy of the letter here (PDF).
